Rene Colon was born in Norfolk, Virginia. As a toddler, his family relocated to San Diego, California, where he lived for 18 years. His privileged surroundings exposed him to several opportunities. Rene was taught professionalism and the importance of time management at an early age by his parents. From age 16 to 17, he worked his first job as a grocery bagger at a Marine Corp grocery store. At 18, he held his second job as a cashier and maintained attendance to college level courses in architecture, business, photography, and graphic design.
At age 19, Rene's eagerness to see the world led him to enlist in the United States Coast Guard. He had the opportunity of traveling the world and working in places such as Hawaii, Guam, Japan, Kwajalein, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, and Alaska. His outgoing personality, determination, and military specialty knowledge worked in his favor when he became a Third Class Petty Officer(E-4) within just five months of his enlistment. His dedication earned him Second Class Petty Officer(E-5) approximately one year later and First Class Petty Officer(E-6) in less than five years, faster than most military personnel. After implementing various specialty training and displaying excellent work ethic, the military installation witnessed one of the highest success rates of qualified personnel in forty years of commission.
Rene reunited with his creative crafts. After various college courses in photography, he invested in his first professional camera. Rene discovered his talent after creating beautiful images of wildlife, landscapes, and people. It wasn’t long until he found his passion, capturing the beauty in men and women across the world. After providing his services at mixed martial arts tournaments in the San Francisco bay and weddings in the San Diego area, he became known throughout California as a new and innovative photographer.
In 2007, Rene started RC Photography & Design, an independent business that services clients in the fields of modeling, entertainment, and sports.
